The frequency of autism has increased dramatically over the years, at a very high rate. In 2000, the average frequency of autism in Western countries was 30.8 per 10,000 people, whereas today’s reports indicate an average frequency of 2.5%. A 178% increase in the frequency of autism has been reported since 2000. The frequency varies by country and by state within a country. For example, in South Korea and Japan, the average frequency of autism is reported as 3%, and in many states in the USA, the frequency of autism is reported as 4-6%. All these rates show that the frequency of autism is increasing at a very high rate. Based on the current data with some computer programs, it is reported that approximately half of all newborns will be diagnosed with autism in the next 50 years. So why is the frequency of autism increasing so much? There are two main reasons for this. 1. A real increase in the incidence of autism. 2. An increase in awareness of autism and an increase in the rate of correct diagnosis in the diagnostic processes. The rate of cases diagnosed correctly is increasing compared to previous years. The incidence rate is 4.2 times higher in boys (compared to girls). Autism is an extremely important and serious public health problem.
