High levels of toxic metals can be seen in autism. However, the cause of the etio-pathogenesis of autism is not high levels of toxic metals in the brain. High levels of toxic metals may only be one of the reasons.

The removal and excretion protocol (chelation) is NOT APPLIED randomly without measuring the level of toxic metal! This is because maybe the toxic metal is not high. It is not right to do random chelation without precise information with intracellular and extracellular toxic metal level measurement (ICP MS Method). If it is not high or if the level of elevation is not at a level that would be considered toxic, applying chelation is meaningless and unnecessary.

  1. Not every high value is considered toxic.
  2. Chelation is not applied for every toxic value.
  3. The chelation value is known for every toxic (heavy) metal.

For example; Lead for the children age group:

< 5 (µg/dL): Normal

> 5 (µg/dL): High

> 10 (µg/dL): Toxic

> 45 (µg/dL): Highly Toxic

The results obtained here are as follows:

  1. Values between 5-10 (µg/dL) are high but not considered toxic.
  2. > 10 (µg/dL): Toxic value, but the value requiring chelation is > 45 (µg/dL).
