Allergy tests are directly applied as skin tests (prick test), measurements of specific IgE or IgG from serum, or as cell culture studies.
Actually, the most ideal and gold standard method is skin tests. However, especially in young children, it is considered risky to perform skin tests because sudden allergic anaphylactic reactions may occur during the procedure, and in such cases, immediate intervention would be required. For this reason, measurements from blood samples are considered more reliable. However, in blood tests, an analytical sensitivity issue can also be observed, depending on the type of test and the measurement method. In this context, when we examine the analysis methods, three main groups of tests are currently used.
IgE measurement-based tests
2. IgG measurement-based tests
3. Cell culture (lymphocyte, leukocyte) based tests
